Earl C. Voss, 95, Michigan City, passed
away Sunday, April 18, 2010, at 5:59 p.m. in St. Anthony
Memorial, Michigan City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22,
2010, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St.,
Michigan City with Dr. David Albertin officiating. Burial
will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday
from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.
American Legion Skwiat Post 451 and the VFW Post 2536 will
conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the
Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, and full military services
Thursday in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Michigan City, to Max and Ella
(Holtz) Voss.
On June 14, 1950, in Michigan City, he married Joyce
Berridge, who preceded him April 6, 1990. Surviving are
daughter, Susan (Tom) Cassler of La Porte; son, Rick (Pam)
Voss of Michigan City; three grandsons, Ryan (Lana) Voss of
Goodlettsville, Tenn., Scott Voss of Michigan City and Corey
Voss of Lakeland, Fla.; great-grandson, Clark Voss of
Goodlettsville, Tenn.; loving companion of 17 years, Arlene
Bluhm of Michigan City; sister-in-law, Phyllis Job of South
Bend, Ind.
He retired in September of 1979 after 29 years as assistant
chief clerk for NIPSCO. Mr. Voss was a member of First
United Methodist Church, Moose Family Center 980, American
Legion Skwiat Post 451, VFW Post 2536, Elks Lodge 432,
former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles,
former president of the clerical union at NIPSCO for 16
years, member of the 76er’s golf league, and was a part
of the breakfast club at the Franklin St., McDonald’s. He
also served during World War II in the South Pacific with
the U.S. Navy.
Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church,
121 E. 7th St., Michigan City, IN 46360, to either the
stained glass window relief fund or to the music ministry.
